your life to do YouTube always this kind of their their faithful and strong so even regardless the Facebook goes off YouTube always gets best though we’re here with DJ and Erica will introduce and happy Friday Facebook in YouTube welcome to disclosure live a brand EOS them all I’m Heather and I have a couple new faces with me today today I have Erica wheeler and Dietrich Odom it is January 25th 2019 on today’s episode we will discuss a few well usually we have news stories but we’re
just going to kind of give our national day and but today we’re going to discuss estate planning and why it’s important but first of all and cover what our national day is today is the National Irish Coffee Day which basically anybody knows that Irish Coffee is made it’s usually a strong coffee basically with whiskey sugar and topped with a rich layer of cream and it is recognized on January 25th so today we’re gonna kind of let you all jump in and introduces a couple of new faces we have some new
attorneys with this we have a Dietrich Odom and then Dietrich is basically practicing the estate planning elder probate and estates as well as assistance in civil criminal on family law for the firm so Dietrich welcome to the firm would you like to tell us a little bit about yourself today sure first of all my name is Dietrich Oh and I’m originally from West Texas has lived here recently with my family and so basically at another new face with the firm and this is Erica she’s not so so new but new to Facebook
America is one of our family law attorneys she actually does assist as far as with estate planning and probate but currently she is heading our lovely family law department so let’s tell us a little bit about yourself hi I’m Erica I have been in the area since 2001 and a 9/10 since 2006 when I got married and moved out here and I’m just really excited to be here radio solo now I’m sure anybody in any of our followers and stuff well we definitely would kind of dive more in depth to a little bit about what they do
but I’m always saying definitely kind of pop in and say hello and meet the attorney then as for the clients usually you have seen a face of the attorney but they are in prison so I’m so we’re gonna go ahead and how to jump in today’s topic and basically it’s state planning so I’m Erica why is it important to do a state plan so important because that’s how you get to have a say in what happens to your property in your money after you pass away otherwise you leave it up to your friends or family and they
get to fight over it and become a thing it’s also how we can just make life easier for those you leave behind by having it all designated and and laid out so they don’t have those struggles followers we do several several different types specifics but basically when when should someone seek an attorney I guess you could say instead of an estate plan really anyone who loses an adult that has these four assets or especially children should consider doing some kind of estate planning at that point just make it
easier if it said something happen I usually always maybe have a bank account a car a house yes kids it’s basically their go with you would you advise us to getting your family involved come to your estate plan so I would think maybe have other ideas I would think that if you’re gonna doesn’t make somebody to be your executor maybe let them know and if you once you have documents that there’s a little or trust or whatever tell your friends and family where they can find it so it’s it’s going to be in my safe
or it’s in the safe deposit box or it’s under my mattress I don’t care where it is but tell somebody where it is so the if you do pass they can find it and will have to struggle or wonder and you can’t consult resume or family that you don’t have to tell them what you decide and put your way we don’t have to tell them any specifically on consults especially for our firm and wide variety and usually before you know the older generations they always find kept it quiet and it
wants anybody to really know and then this generation I’m actually kind of seeing that the children actually be more involved and which is kind of a good thing it has alleviate possibility of arguments and stuff later but basically I’ve come to learn that there’s not really a rival reason it just kind of fits through your family the next we’re willing to do the consults but if not we can talk about what we wanted my dad to do and we told him what you should do which is do what you want whatever comes
up or just gonna split ya won’t figure it out so put that on paper and we’re going to go there you worry about me generational or maybe not family and just go nice and even what if that other question is kind of if I guess I’m kind of a family law kind of add that in a little bit I’m dealing with this state plan is basically Diedrich if say if someone was to get remarried say they went ahead I didn’t say planned they want to go and get remarried how difficult is it to and change up there a safe way well in short
it’s really not difficult at all to change it and that’s certainly something you’d want to do if you got married and one thing is that one of the biggest things – we’ve seen several different and I say I say the litigation the probate litigation side is if you don’t update it you know there there’s kind of repercussions but I always say blended families and when you’ve kind of got and then have children with that person’s they or your current wife that you don’t have children and because a
lot of elderly are actually remarrying not so much for financial aspect but it’s for companionship and that’s where I see a lot of conflict because the children still want to make sure that they’re taking care of versus with the you know why her husband or what-have-you financially so it’s really just wrapping the documents but it’s very safe do you have the cards basically as you know that we would sorry as you know prior and we have this best alternatives to avoid and basically
having family discord either and including your family within estate plans and our firm does for biiian estate plans that include of course those trust varieties of different types of trust but even assists and basically avoiding the entire probate process all together so we do offer free consultations and to kind of discuss your personalized estate plan and kind of what is the best route and/or estate plan for you basically that’s all that we do have for today regarding estate plans we’re so glad
