This day and age there is only one sure fire way to get your name and brand out there in the public eye, to be viewed by as many eyes as possible in fact, and that is by having a strong social media presence. Whether that means utilizing Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, TikTok or Instagram or better yet all of the above. Pick your favorite platforms and commit to consistently posting so that you’re able to consistently grow an online following. For whatever you’re promoting, whether its yourself, a service or a product, there is surely a demand for it in some communities. Success is all about supply and demand after all. The use of social media has become a mainstream marketing tactic.

Granted it can be intimidating when the different platforms are constantly evolving their algorithms and templates. One must learn to post photos, pictures, videos, and reels without forgetting to tag or plug their content. Like with anything else, reputation is the key to learning and practice makes perfect. Most people find imperfect more relatable anyways so don’t hesitate to start somewhere just because you think perfection is necessary for success. It is important not to use your online account for both business and personal posts. It’s still possible to be relatable on a business account.

It’s crucial to understand your audience, or as its more commonly referred to, your community. This is where supply and demand comes into play, doing the research to understand the need that you’re looking to meet with your online engagement. Most social media platforms have a built-in analytics tool that will provide such insight about your current audience. For example, Twitter’s has analytics that provide insight into your current followers’ locations, interests and gender, etc. Instagram has analytics that show what your current followers have “liked”, saved and reposted so that you can get a good idea of what you are putting out there that is more popular; what people online are interacting with more. With that knowledge you can then create similar content. No matter what content strategy you decide on, make sure that you make it broad enough to appeal to future brand collaboration partners. This is a common method used to reach a wider audience. Be sure that your sponsored posts are able to fit in organically with the rest of the content that you post.

After pinpointing what type of content suits you, your next step is to decide on the frequency that you will be posting. The more consistent you are with the number of times and how often you post the more online traffic to your page you are likely to have. People will develop an appetite for your content and look forward to your posts. Not only that but most social media platforms have algorithms that grant preference to accounts that post regularly. Instagram is one of the biggest influencer marketing platforms and it requires a regular posting frequency for increased visibility.

When it comes to social media success there is no guaranteed timeline, but if you’re intentional and put in the right amount of time and effort then you’ll develop a following much like a fan base. Instagram for one, will then go through steps to “verify” your account and grant your page the coveted blue check mark. Whether it is fame or profit that you are aiming for, acquiring this blue check mark will set you leaps and bounds ahead of the influencers online. Much like with any other endeavor, you will get out of this what you put into it.
